MakeNoize

MakeNoize is a Montreal-based street artist with over 15 years of practice in the local urban art scene. His work is known for anonymous street interventions using stencils, graffiti, and poetic urban signage, often featuring universal messages such as LOVE, HOPE, KINDNESS, and simple symbols like smiley faces.

His practice is strongly connected to themes of mental health, emotional well-being, and positivity in public space, aiming to transform the city into a medium for accessible and uplifting communication.

After years of anonymous street interventions, his work gradually evolved toward institutional public art projects, while maintaining his recognizable visual language.

In 2025, he created the mural Fierté in Montréal-Nord, marking his first officially recognized large-scale mural, and a key milestone in his transition into community-based public art.

Artwork description

Pride is a mural created by the artist MakeNoize in Montréal-Nord, located on the viaduct structure of Henri-Bourassa East Boulevard. The work is part of a public art initiative aimed at strengthening neighborhood identity and enhancing local cultural visibility.

The mural features a contemporary street art visual language, characterized by dynamic graphic forms, structured composition, and a vibrant color palette. It expresses themes of identity, community, and collective pride.

With its modest yet significant dimensions (2.4 m x 6.5 m), the mural represents the artist’s first large-scale public artwork, marking an important transition toward more visible and institutional urban interventions.
The mural functions as a visual landmark within the urban landscape of Montréal- Nord, contributing to the symbolic revitalization of the viaduct and its surroundings.
