The winners of two competitions organized as part of the Promenade Urbaine Fleuve – Montagne design project have been announced!
Artist Alexandre David and the Projet EVA collective will contribute to the municipal public art collection for this major legacy of Montréal’s 375th anniversary.
The work by Alexandre David, Les éléments (provisional title), will be comprised of a succession of four to six permanent artistic installations. The artist hopes that passersby will take the time to stop and sit at the artwork, move around them either freely or in a more or less directed manner.
Cortège, the project by the Projet EVA collective (Étienne Grenier and Simon Laroche), will offer an immersive approach, borrowing from certain video game mechanisms. Through a smart phone app, passersby will be plunged into a sound experience in which they will participate in actions as determined by the game.
Finalist in the urban intervention competition: Catherine Bolduc, Alexandre David, Jean-Robert Drouillard, Marc Dulude and Peter Gibson.
The finalists for integration of a digital work were: Luc Courchesne, Projet EVA and Jonathan Villeneuve.
You will be able to contemplate these pieces when the urban promenade is inaugurated, in spring 2017.
