150th anniversary of Mont-Royal Park

Enjoy the many upcoming activities!

To mark the 150th anniversary of Mont-Royal Park, an iconic site dear to the hearts of Montrealers, the Musée des Hospitalières de l’Hôtel-Dieu de Montréal is offering a series of themed activities throughout the summer and fall in collaboration with the City of Montreal, Les Amis de la montagne, and Art public Montréal.

Public art on Mont-Royal

This guided tour takes you on a journey to discover a variety of public artworks located on Mount Royal, from the base of the mountain to one of its peaks, and is led by Mélanie Renaud of the Carpe Diem company.

The itinerary begins with Notre souffle par-delà (2023), a work paying tribute to the nursing profession, then continues toward the Mordecai Richler Pavilion and the monument to George-Étienne Cartier. The tour then leads to the park’s clearing, where several sculptures created during the first International Sculpture Symposium in North America, held in Montreal in 1964, are located.

The walk ends at the Kondiaronk Lookout, near the Chalet du Mont-Royal, designed by Aristide Beaugrand-Champagne.
