Marianne Chevalier

Born in Dunham in 1980, Marianne Chevalier is interested in the development of allegories through the assembly of photocopied elements from different sources. She holds a bachelor’s degree in graphic design from UQAM (2005) and a master’s degree in visual arts from Université Laval in Quebec City (2008).

Artwork description

La Correspondance des strates emphasizes the movement and inclusion of different social statuses through universal accessibility. In four variations, collages of images express the overall concept of geological and social strata. The colours play a directional role, echoing the large moulded dials designed by architect André Léonard.

The artwork’s vertical sections illustrate the movement of the elevators and the horizontal sections, that of the trains.
