Izabelle Duguay is a visual artist based in Montreal. She has always been interested in the scale of art, the power of colors and the connection between natural and urban forms. Her studio work, as well as her murals, bring together the abstract with à minimalism and the geometric with the organic in a constant exploration of textures and shapes. Their primary purpose is to energize or soothe the viewer and to harmonize with the surrounding architecture.
With a bachelor’s degree in set design and a master’s degree in art education from Concordia University, Izabelle has worked as an artist and educator for the organization MU for over seven years. She has also collaborated withcreative agencies such as MassivArt, Artgang, Artbangbang, La Centrale des Artistes to name a few. She has over forty murals to her credit, including a tribute to the permanent collection for the International Pavilion for Education and Art Therapy Michel de la Chenelière, from the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. She recently won the provincial public art competition to create the largest mural in Eastern Quebec, produced in the summer of 2023, in Rimouski, Quebec.
Artwork description
In this work, the artist continues her exploration of landscapes and celebrates the cycles of nature. She draws on the ephemeral nature of life and its poetry to create gentle, immersive scenes that invite the viewer to travel between dream and reality.
The meditative and transformative power of nature lies at the heart of her creative process. Through the strength of color and the emotions they evoke, visual metaphors emerge—symbolizing renewal, second chances, and hope.
Izabelle Duguay expresses a desire to believe that anything is still possible: that the sun will continue to rise, the moon will follow its course, and roses will bloom again in rhythm with life. Her work reminds us of life’s fragility, the importance of cherishing each moment, and the need to slow down so that time doesn’t slip away too quickly.
