Il fait toujours beau au-dessus des nuages
2025
Ankh One

At the beginning of the 90s, ankh started doing graffiti on the walls of his beautiful native city of Grenoble, nestled at the foot of the Alps. It is this mode of expression that led him to the benches of a graphic school, the École Superieure d’Art Appliqué in Troyes. Mastering these newfound institutional techniques, he gradually transposed his pictorial and graphic work to painting, without ever breaking the link to the graffiti culture that motivated this progression. Well versed in graphic design, illustration and painting, he uses all these mediums to represent what he calls “poetry in motion”.  In 2001 he joined the reputed Parisian collective, 9e Concept, and later on worked as event coordinator for Orange Telecom. He has also been art director for Graff-It magazine as well as for the fragrance brand Confinluxe. Whether it’s on his canvas or at the workplace, he has a passion for detail and a commitment to quality.

Artwork description

This immersive mural, entitled Il fait toujours beau au-dessus des nuages (It’s Always Sunny Above the Clouds), celebrates Quebec’s natural beauty while offering a contemplative experience. It invites viewers to suspend time, reconnect with inner peace, and appreciate the majesty of the natural world.

At the center of the composition, a peaceful lake reflects a brilliant sunset, whose warm shades of pink, orange, and yellow bathe the scene in a soothing light. On this calm water, water lilies float gracefully, while a small wooden boat glides silently, carrying a solitary figure accompanied by a lantern: a symbol of guidance and the inner traveler.

On the left, the flaming sky stretches out, evoking the transition between day and night, between the visible and the invisible. On the right, giant pink tulips rise like poetic sentinels, anchoring the work in a dreamlike and symbolic dimension.

In the center left, a subtle mandala emerges from the water, weaving a dialogue between order and chaos. This spiritual motif, both rooted in nature and open to infinity, embodies balance and inner harmony.

Covering almost the entire façade, the mural creates an enveloping environment that stimulates the senses without ever suffocating the space. It allows the wall to breathe, offering a subtle contrast between immersion and lightness.

More than just decoration, this work is an invitation to pause, daydream, and contemplate. It embodies the spirit of collaboration (Anhk One and Nika Keys), shared beauty, and collective imagination of Promenade Masson. A place where art invites you to recharge, reflect, and reconnect with yourself and nature.
