Natacha Clitandre

Of Haitian and Québécois descent, Natacha Clitandre currently lives and works in Tiohtià:ke/Mooniyang/Montreal. She holds a bachelor’s degree in visual arts from UQAM (2000) and studied Graphic Design at the École de design de l’UQAM. In 2007, she completed a master’s degree in theory and practice of contemporary art and new media from Université Paris 8. She also studied, on scholarships, at both Brown University and RISD in the US.

Her work has been presented in numerous exhibitions, including at La Centrale galerie Powerhouse, Verticale artist-run centre, PHI, the Espace Culturel Séraphine Louis (Clermont, France), the Maison de la culture Janine-Sutto, the Centre des Arts de la Maison d’Haïti and the Musée de la civilisation. She has participated in several artist residencies, most recently at Ada X, Paradise (Nantes, France), the Cinémathèque québécoise and Diaphane (Clermont, France). In 2024 she won the Prix Powerhouse, an award recognizing two Montreal-based artists who demonstrate perseverance and commitment to their work.

For more than 20 years, Natacha has also worked as a cultural worker. From 2017 to 2022, she was Ada X’s Programming Coordinator, playing a pivotal role in developing the feminist artist-run centre’s Slow Tech approach.
