Laurent Pilon

Laurent Pilon is a Granby-born sculptor. He works and lives in Saint-Donat-de-Montcalm and Montreal. Since the early eighties, Laurent Pilon ‘s work was exhibited in fifteen solo exhibitions, including at the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal and the Délégation générale du Québec à Paris. In addition to participating in numerous group exhibitions, he made ten projects of public art. He holds an interdisciplinary Doctorate in Art studies and practice (option: creation) from the Université du Québec à Montréal. His revised doctoral thesis was published by the Presses de l’Université du Québec in 2012 under the title Résine et complexité matérielle, Traité sur la manoeuvre de résine en sculpture. For about thirty years now, his research on sculpture has been essentially based on handling polyester resin.  His work represents proof of a close relationship with the material.
