Alexis Vaillancourt

A multidisciplinary artist, Alexis draws his inspiration from the fusion of various media such as sculpture, painting, installation, mural, performance and woodworking. His works captivate with their ability to transform everyday materials into poetic testimonies to our contemporary reality. Self-taught in painting and drawing, Alexis explored his talent while working as a furniture welder for several years. Joining various artists’ collectives, he set up his own cabinetmaking and welding workshop. Since then, Alexis has invested himself in scenography, installations and sculptural furniture, while continuing to explore the fields of painting, drawing and mural painting. His work highlights our dependence on technology and our unbridled consumerism. His artistic approach leaves plenty of room for interpretation, his works being as enigmatic as the unanswered questions that inhabit our daily lives.

Co-founder of Studio Ascètes and member of the LAMA muralist collective, Alexis favors artistic and multidisciplinary collaboration, notably through collective mural projects and the revalorization of materials.
