Artwork description
The sculpture is situated in the south part of Parc Baldwin, near Rue Sherbrooke. Taking the form of a symbolic staircase, it establishes links among myth, nature, and culture. In this artwork, as a place of transition, the artist creates a paradox between life and death. The updated version of the myth questions the desire to attain perfection and immortality. Made of Corten steel, the artwork is taking on a rust-coloured patina, creating an aesthetic associated with nature.
The monolithic sculpture is the third work in a trilogy also composed of the installation Ô Narcisse, ma sœur… and La chambre d’Écho.
