Mathieu Bories (Mateo)

Collage and Stencil artist, Mathieu Bories alias Mateo questions the perception of the world which surrounds us. His humanistic approach emphasizes a nostalgia of childhood as well as a romanticism erased in our contemporary society. Forgotten images, photography, travel documents accumulated in search of timeless knowledge are the raw material of a personal composition, a monologue of the soul.

Artwork description

The wall facing the Jean-Talon Market that is part of the building housing the Archambault boutique, which opened in the spring of 2017, was gloomy and constantly being vandalized. With the return of good weather, Archambault decided to offer passers-by a pleasant space that would promote local culture. With that in mind, visual artist Mateo created a majestic and colourful work of art.

Today, La pomme du savoir is a highly photographed and popular wall mural among Archambault and Jean-Talon Market customers. It provides an inspiring window into culture and art, and blends seamlessly with the market and the neighbourhood’s friendly and diversified atmosphere.
