Artwork description

This artwork harmoniously combines figurative elements and abstraction, featuring a flowing line dotted with curves and circles that evoke the passage of time and its key moments.

The piece depicts an elderly person and a child, symbols of an intergenerational family bond. These two figures exchange a glance toward a “temporal window” of the neighborhood. The corners of Masson Street and 4th Avenue are depicted with precision, helping the viewer to situate themselves within this world.

The green and colorful elements of the neighborhood are also present in the composition, notably as a planter hanging from the street sign.

Finally, the railway history of Vieux-Rosemont is highlighted through the locomotive and the old CP tower of the Shops Angus. This reference recalls the important historical role of the train in the neighborhood, also emphasized by the presence of the rails marking the western boundary of the area. The elderly figure wears a railway worker’s hat, reinforcing the connection between the community and its railway heritage.
