Artwork description

Holly King first built a miniature environment from wood, plaster, and clay which she arranged on a tabletop. Using a large-format camera, she photographed the construction and generated an image that is both realistic and artificial. Placed on a limestone wall at the metro level of the EV complex it presents a calm picture to contemplate while descending the stairs or the escalator. Providing a visual transition between the intellectual stimulus of the university and the bustle of the downtown core, the work interacts with the blue hues of the LED wall, the tunnel to the John Molson School of Business and plays with perceptions of scale.
