Artwork description
Situated on the land of the Musée de Lachine, on Chemin de LaSalle, Trilogie is a tubular steel sculpture painted in bright colours to give it a playful appearance. It brings together the three primary colours – red, yellow and blue – and the three basic geometric figures – circle, square, and triangle. Each shape has its own symbolism: the circle evokes time, infinity, and the sky; the square refers to earth and the material; and the triangle refers to divinity, harmony, and fire. The three forms are interlocked with each other to form a balanced, stable, light structure. The municipal collection includes two other sculptures by Jacques Carpentier, both made of painted steel.
