Memoire du Mile End

Mile End Memories is a committed local history society. We provide the public with keys to understanding the past, so that they can become more involved in the life of the neighborhood today. In addition to our work on the history of the neighborhood, we host discussions with players involved in current issues such as access to housing, the preservation of artists\’ studios, the enhancement of architectural heritage, and the promotion of cultural diversity.
For almost 25 years, we\’ve been offering a program of guided walking tours every summer, and a series of lectures on a variety of themes every winter. Our original research into the history of the neighborhood informs the lectures, the tours, and this website, with its interactive map enabling the stories of many buildings to be discovered.
In November 2018, Mercier MNA Ruba Ghazal awarded Mile End Memory a National Assembly Medal in recognition of its commitment to nurturing our collective memory.
