Usine C

Usine C, a globally recognized creation and diffusion centre, presents national and international programming of contemporary works for the stage, in regular season and in the form of events and showcases. Founded to support artistic research, Usine C plays a major role in the development of the cultural environment that favours both emerging and confirmed artists.

Founded in 1995 by the research and creation company Carbone 14, which had a combined experience of cofoundation and animation for thirteen years at Espace Libre that brought together creative companies, Usine C decided to give to companies and strong creators carte blanche instead of producing works. With this decision, Usine C has positioned itself differently from the seasonal theatres and has developed a still unoccupied niche that has increased the capacity of the intermediate and emerging companies to present their work in Montreal.
