{"id":56985,"date":"2016-02-18T13:08:26","date_gmt":"2016-02-18T17:08:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/artpublicmontreal.ca\/en\/?p=56985"},"modified":"2016-03-07T13:57:53","modified_gmt":"2016-03-07T17:57:53","slug":"event-montreal-en-lumiere-festival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/artpublicmontreal.ca\/en\/2016\/02\/event-montreal-en-lumiere-festival\/","title":{"rendered":"Event: Montr\u00e9al en Lumi\u00e8re festival"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 17th edition of Montr\u00e9al\u2019s festival of lights has been launched!<\/p>\n<p>The Place des Festivals and the Esplanade de la Place des Arts have been transformed into a magnificent, dynamic playground with installations and activities for everyone in a zany winter atmosphere. \u00a0In addition to family activities, the free program on the outdoor site takes its inspiration from the performing arts, gourmet food and the digital arts. Among the many events available, we were attracted by two in particular.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u00celot de chaleur<\/em>,\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Illuminart<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Beginning in 2017, Montr\u00e9al will assert its status as a smart, digital city thanks to a new event, Illuminart, a international collection of technological, illuminated, interactive and immersive art work. Visitors will get an exclusive taste of this programming with the interactive installation, <em>\u00celot de chaleur<\/em>, created by Atomic 3. This unusual sculpture, analogous to a bonfire, is comprised of bulbs that come to life and respond to body heat. No matter how they dance or move, festival-goers will stir the embers and generate flames that will rise, pirouette and whirl, creating heat, light and music.<\/p>\n<p>A must-see at the corner of boul. A creation of Gabriel Poirier-Galarneau and Vincent Bilodeau, the photomontages are animated by Montr\u00e9al characters, places and iconic moments. They spotlight various buildings, including the Grande Biblioth\u00e8que, UQAM\u2019s Centre de Design and Pavillon Pr\u00e9sident-Kennedy and the Th\u00e9\u00e2tre Maisonneuve. The Montr\u00e9al en Lumi\u00e8re festival is the perfect time to discover the facades that form the world\u2019s largest permanent network for digital art presentations!
