{"id":59728,"date":"2016-07-12T15:58:15","date_gmt":"2016-07-12T19:58:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/artpublicmontreal.ca\/en\/?p=59728"},"modified":"2016-08-17T17:02:48","modified_gmt":"2016-08-17T21:02:48","slug":"stm-56th-public-artwork-added-to-our-web-site","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/artpublicmontreal.ca\/en\/2016\/07\/stm-56th-public-artwork-added-to-our-web-site\/","title":{"rendered":"STM: 56th public artwork added to our web site!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The latest art installed in the m\u00e9tro network, <em>Correspondances<\/em>, a photomontage by Yann Pocreau, is the 56th piece of the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/artpublicmontreal.ca\/en\/partner\/stm\/\">STM public art collection <\/a><\/span>to be included in the Art public Montr\u00e9al database.<\/p>\n<p>This piece, which you can see in the new Jean-Talon station entrance building (south), is printed on four aluminum panels. It presents three main visual elements.<\/p>\n<p>First, words, numbers and names appear on a dark background: They are extracted from the first census in Nouvelle-France, compiled by Jean Talon during the winter of 1666.\u00a0Then, fine lines mix with the names of the first colonists: They sketch a plan and a cross-sectional view of the building in which the art is located.\u00a0Finally, three rectangles form the central element of the work. Two are in the colours of the m\u00e9tro lines which intersect under the new building.<\/p>\n<p>The next time you pass through the Jean-Talon m\u00e9tro station, take the time to view <em>Correspondances.\u00a0<\/em>It\u2019s an invitation to become aware of the architecture that envelops us. It\u2019s also an invitation to preserve the memory of the inhabitants who came before us.
