Cyndie Belhumeur mix in the same painting geometric and organic shapes and overlay effects of vivid colors. Her artistic practice is exercised in parallel with illustration and graphic design. She realized her first major mural with MU in 2015 after learning the basics of mural art as an assistant-muralist in 2014.
Artwork description
Hydro-Québec called on MU to enhance the quality of life of local residents through murals, thus promoting the integration of their installations into the urban fabric.
The “Echo” mural, by Cyndie Belhumeur, draws its inspiration from the brutalist architecture and energy of the hydroelectric plant. It combines visual elements representing movement and resonance, in dialogue with the building’s solid concrete.
The two large circular shapes in the center symbolize echo, illustrating the waves that propagate. The tension between these circles creates a moment of compression before a release of energy, evoking the duality and cyclical repetition present in nature, water and electricity. Variations in blue hues express vibratory intensity, with the deep blue at the center representing a source of energy radiating outwards.
