Felipe Arriagada-Nunez, a.k.a. Chien Champion, is a Montreal-based illustrator who distinguishes himself by his colorful and dynamic universes, where the trivial becomes magical. Son of Chilean immigrants, he grew up in the heart of the Mile End neighborhood, with a ball on his feet in the summer and skates in the winter.
Artwork description
Chien Champion’s mural is inspired by the greatness of Montreal. The artist wanted to celebrate the city’s vibrancy and different energies, as a starting point to visit the world, but it is also an invitation to rediscover Montreal in a different way. Despite the number of times we leave it, Montreal remains home, the point of return.
Felipe wants his work to accompany the users of the site from the beginning (Montreal) to the end (no matter the destination) as well as in their first point of contact with the city, as a sign of welcome.
Finally, the mural’s composition was thought as an ode to travel, escape, openness and exploration while keeping Montreal in his heart.
