Artwork description
The mural “Le géant de Tétro” (The Giant of Tétro), created by artist TEO, is an initiative of the citizens and merchants of Tétreaultville, with a view to revitalizing the Mercier-Est sector in the Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough. This work is taking shape on the wall of the IGA supermarket in Tétreaultville, adjacent to Sainte-Louise-de-Marillac elementary school (CSSDM).
Artist TEO LE ROO held a cultural mediation workshop with the school children to collect anecdotes and represent the reality of the children who frequent this passageway and the neighborhood. The mural depicts the children’s various memorable moments and the route they take home after school. The mural also incorporates visual elements collected during the workshop, such as houses, soccer, trains, friends, and many others. The giant is the one who guides and protects them on their way home.
