Artwork description

This mural, whose graphic and abstract forms are reminiscent of a hut between heaven and earth, was created by French artist LSNR. It is located in the Palace alley, and is one of 3 created this year as part of the MUrelles project. This pilot beautification project is the result of a collaboration between Montréal centre-ville, Tourisme Montréal and MU, with the support of the Ville de Montréal, with the aim of encouraging the general public to see and appropriate alleyways in a different way, making them spontaneous meeting places in the heart of the metropolis.

“This street is called Palace Street. It inspired me to create a palace in my own way. A little piece of a shack, between heaven and earth, in the immensity of clouds and water. The various squares break down the landscape into different points of view, and the graphic, abstract forms bring balance to the more figurative, organic subjects. The idea behind this mural is to provide a window onto vast, natural views, in an urban environment that limits the field of vision. It’s an invitation to daydream a little, and take a break from the rhythm of the city for a while.” LSNR
