Franco E. is a visual artist living and working in Montreal, Canada. Raised by his single mother, he learned to hold a pen and trace a line before walking on his two feet.
His sensual and captivating drawings take us into a world where the body plays freely. Vibrant colours highlight curves and expressions, influenced by cubism and the aesthetic concept of Japanese Ma. In this way a range of emotions and ideas are offered, free to escape in his sublimated bodies.
Artwork description
Inspired by the theme of cultural encounters, this new mural located at the Gabriel-Sagard housing complex faces the Sandro-Pertini Park, just on the edge of Boulevard Saint-Michel.
This marks the sixth large-scale mural by MU in the Saint-Michel neighborhood and the 26th mural in the Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension borough.
The artwork reflects the exchanges between the artist and the community of the housing complex. After several meetings with the residents, artist Franco Égalité created a piece that portrays the strength of the community in which it is rooted, featuring characters emanating benevolence and apparent solidarity. Made possible through funding from the Quebec government and the City of Montreal, as well as the collaboration of the Municipal Housing Office of Montreal and the borough of Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension, the artwork contributes to beautifying the neighborhood and strengthens the existing bonds among the residents of the borough
