Cyndie Belhumeur mix in the same painting geometric and organic shapes and overlay effects of vivid colors. Her artistic practice is exercised in parallel with illustration and graphic design. She realized her first major mural with MU in 2015 after learning the basics of mural art as an assistant-muralist in 2014.
Artwork description
The mural was created by artists Beige Fluo (Cyndie Belhumeur) and MC Marquis, in collaboration with MU, the Fondation pour la langue française and the borough of Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension. This large-scale community mural is part of a 3-mural project, which will highlight the learning of the French language by immigrants to Quebec.
PARLE PARLE, JASE JASE is the second mural in this series. It represents French expressions, inspired by the words of the first mural, “Bonjour”, created right next door. The initial chaos of the first mural, representing the disorder or confusion felt during the first moments of learning a new language, gradually fades away, making it easier to understand meanings and associate words. The language becomes more familiar and easier to learn.
