Artwork description

This mural continues MU’s commitment to the rehabilitation of Savoie Avenue, which began in 2014 in partnership with BAnQ through Murs à Mots, a series of 10 murals dedicated to literature. Merci, Beau Dommage pays tribute to a group whose music and lyrics are an integral part of our collective landscape and which, in 2025, celebrates the 50th anniversary of the release of their first album.
Located on the back wall of the building that houses ADISQ’s offices, this mural also recalls the history of the neighborhood, which was once a lively hub of cabarets, bars, and performance venues of all kinds, where music played a central role.
This project is part of the City of Montréal’s initiative Propulser le Quartier Latin, which aims to strengthen the neighborhood’s francophone identity, boost foot traffic, and encourage collaboration among its cultural, economic, and social stakeholders.
The artwork is part of MU’s collection Les bâtisseur·e·s culturel·le·s de Montréal, which pays tribute to the influential figures who have shaped our collective identity.
