Artwork description
Sun Vault was inspired by the utilitarian intricacies of the iconic bank vault door. Typically made from steel and concrete, the door has been reinterpreted through luxurious materials, creating a shimmering golden portal. Inside the light box are mirrored pillars and a central radial composition of layered mirror disks, intricately engraved with glowing symbols. Scattered throughout the pillars are personal symbols made from hand shaped acrylic rod. The symbols interact with the architectural aspects of this psychic space, reflecting into infinitude. The bank vault door is symbolic of what we keep locked away in our internal world, buried secrets and forgotten stories.
