Artwork description
The mural project is a huge, 350-linear-foot work of art covering the fence around the MYX Condos construction site. The mural is part of an initiative to energize Pointe Nord. For the next two years, residents and the public will be able to transcend the construction fence through the vividly coloured visuals and play of perspectives designed to idealize the neighbourhood. In addition to encouraging a local artist, the mural, called Perspectives, will become part of Pointe Nord’s urban landscape and vitalize the space with images of existing, idealized and future sites (being built) in a single collage of perspectives, hence the name. These perspectives showcase the river’s close and all-encompassing presence, the new Samuel de Champlain Bridge, the REM light rail network and nature, all of which enhance the neighbourhood. Each segment of the composition is connected by an element unique to the site: the St. Lawrence River.
