Artwork description
Born in Haiti and immigrating to Canada at the age of six, Dino was captivated by the lights of Montreal upon his arrival. Raised in Montreal’s tough neighborhoods by a single-parent family, he forged his identity through basketball, playing at a high level in Canada and the United States. A self-taught, color-blind artist, he taught himself artistic techniques. His famous blue butterfly symbolizes his desire for renewal and transformation. Dino creates vibrant, detailed works that combine cultural heritage, dynamic urban life and contemporary, surreal aesthetics. His art engages and inspires viewers to dream bigger, to embrace change in new narratives. Resilience, drawn from his Haitian roots, thrives in his creations, propelling viewers towards futuristic visions tinged with nostalgia and grandeur.
