MU is a charitable organization that transforms Montreal’s public space by creating murals rooted in communities. At the heart of its approach: to create murals as a way of seeing and experiencing art on a daily basis, to trigger social transformation and to leave Montreal an open-air museum. Since 2007, MU has created more than 250 large-scale, permanent murals in every district of the city, in addition to an extensive educational program. MU was awarded the 34th Grand-Prix by the Conseil des arts de Montréal, in recognition of its innovative artistic and social vision and the cultural legacy of its murals to Montreal communities.
