Since the late 90’s, Omen is blurring boundaries between graffiti and street art with his singular style of painting, both on and off the streets. Using spray cans as his primary medium, he contributes to instaure a truce between the aerosol movement and the established art world. Omen’s style is immediately recognizable : often cast in stark black and white, his murals and canvases have a haunted quality. His use of negative space and ephemeral but controlled lines allows the public to enter his paintings in a way that few street artists offer.
Artwork description
Inspired by harmony and peace, OMEN created the mural All it Takes is a Little Heart. This is the first collaboration between MU and the St-Laurent borough. The mural’s inspiration came naturally, the wall being located in front of Beaudet Park where a war monument paying tribute to the soldiers who lived in the St. Laurent borough is erected. This mural contributes to the borough’s vision of embellishing the parks, developing cultural hubs as well as reinforcing the ties between the many different communities living in its neighbourhoods.
